From Organizations

“With his years of education experience and honing the critical thinking subject over that time, Dave has taken some very heady material and offers it to his audience in a very practical, digestible, and useful format. I studied philosophy for years, and still wasn’t able to make it this useful to my daily life.”

In North American universities, students are expected to demonstrate critical thinking skills through self-expression within the classroom and through leadership activities outside the classroom. David Miller’s presentation to U of T students and Student Life professionals provided an effective and interactive way of learning about critical thinking and was extremely well-received. Through this workshop, Mr. Miller demonstrated that critical thinking skills can be learned by breaking down the key components and then reconstructing them to create unique individual models.

“My clientele are largely physician leaders grappling with some of the most difficult decisions faced by professionals, with solutions having a life and death impact. I choose my faculty carefully, as not all stand up and command attention with such critical audiences. It is both Dave`s calibre of teaching and seriousness of task that allow him to deliver critical thinking training with incredible skill. He is a teacher`s teacher. His work should be considered the basic building blocks of anyone required to think deeply about what they do.”

“Having had the opportunity of working with Dave Miller as a fellow faculty of “Center for Clinician Leadership” I highly recommend his Critical Thinking (CT) workshop. Dave’s experience as educator, speaker, leader and coach make him uniquely qualified to teach critical thinking theory and concepts. His dynamic, inter-active and insightful workshops make CT strategies more explicit in order to develop CT competence at both a personal and professional level.”

From Students

Jake

This course has really helped me grow, not only academically, but outside of the classroom as well. I have been able to utilize my critical thinking skills in many areas of my life, and they have proven to be very useful.

Ahmed

The critical thinking course has provided me with the tools for providing a stronger analysis on even the most abstract things in life. It has stretched my skills in expressing my arguments more clearly and helped expand my understanding of life.

Sandra

This course has been beneficial in a way where I can exercise the critical thinking skills that I have learned in my daily living. Often at times, many people consider having the skill of thinking critically useful, however, lack to put it to use. This course has helped me do exactly that and has given me new insight on many things I would have never second thought about.

Grace

On the whole, the Critical Thinking course has been phenomenal. The Interpretation Assignment was particularly enlightening as it allowed me to see the world in a new way. I shall definitely continue to use critical thinking skills elsewhere in my life.

Michelle

Throughout the year in critical thinking class, I learned skills that can actually help me in real life. I gained knowledge on how to analyze and interpret things, especially the ones that previously seemed complicated. I believe that by applying the skills in the future, I will be able to make better decisions.

Hannah

This course taught me how to separate my creative thinking from my critical thinking. I enjoyed the first unit we did, learning about the different critical thinking skills. I found that the course was different, and I learned a lot that is going to better prepare me for university. I have become a more mature thinker. The course offered me a wide range of information from the different videos we watched to this final assignment.

Mohamed

The reason I took this course was because most of my teachers told me last year that during my post secondary education, critical thinking will be my savior. It was definitely not what I expected but nevertheless I did learn a whole lot. I ended up using the tools we were taught subconsciously when making decisions. Truly a great course, thank you Mr. Miller!

Connie

This course gave me many insights and skills that I can apply to future endeavors. With my ability to deconstruct and analyze arguments, I will be equipped to stand up for myself and prove my point.
